Absolutely worth a day trip, Trani is a small port city about half an hour north of Bari. Along with featuring a magnificent port that sees lots of activity come evening time, Trani is known for having one of Europe’s most spectacularly designed cathedrals. Peering out over the turquoise seas of the Adriatic, for many medieval crusaders it was the last glimpse they’d get of Europe. In modern times, the cathedral and the city itself are still marvelous to look at, and of course the cafes… oh, the cafes…
